fanggreyfur For being Mr. Sensei's first "serious" album (his words, not mine), this one is amazing, and worth every penny you put on it, I give this a 10/10, and I rarely give 10s to just anyone (and no, Sensei being my friend doesn't help him there) This is a great album, Buy it.... NOW! Stop reading this and buy the album! Favorite track: Hinawa.

PrussianKamikaze This album is just perfect (well almost perfect). It really shows that there is better music than the garbage that has come out in the 2010's. In my opinion, this is the best Album of the decade and one of my favorite albums EVER! Can't wait to see your next album. Favorite track: Lucid.

about

My first full-length album, "Withered"!

After releasing "Absence of Everything", I really wanted to have more of me playing on my next record, instead of mostly just synths and midi, the plan was to make a full-length album presenting all my music styles and abilities. However, most of my ideas were too ambitious for the time, so I made a short little EP called "Pink Flying Goat" to test it out.

So I have been working the overall idea for this album for a long time. I wanted to showcase all my musical styles, abilities, and what I wanted to do for future albums and to really get a "SenseiJosh" sound. I knew it had to be ambitious, but what I learned from the past two EPs was, sometimes it's better to not go ambitious, and just work with what you have. So I tried my best to do a mixture of ambition, and simplicity.

The sound of the record ranges from solo classical and acoustic guitar, ambient synth, shoegaze, post-rock, progressive rock, and metal.
In the future, I want to incorporate jazz, djent, and orchestral music into the mix.

The album isn't perfect by any means, it has many amateur mistakes, in the performances, in the mixing, and some glitches here and there. But I wanted an honest sounding record, that showcases me for who I am. (aka. I'm too lazy to fix them)

The theme of the album is escape. running away, and finding peace in nature, or whatever the listener imagines. The album is meant to be healing, and to help the listener escape from their daily lives. Which is excellently represented in the cover art by Nick Hadley.
So give this record a spin to sit back and relax!

Album thank you's:

The inventor of Coffee, for making this whole thing possible.

Nick Hadley for the amazing artwork.

Nick Acker for his killer drum performances, and dealing with me making him do a bunch of takes.

Kyle Schaefer for his excellent guitar work, the song wouldn't be nearly as good without it, and for being an all-around humble and chill dude to work with.

Dillon for giving me advice on mixing, and taking the time to listen to all the demos I kept sending him.

Sean Margossian for giving me an awesome flute solo last minute.

Austin Ruff for his amazing piano work, that starts and ends the album.

Tristian Hensley for his piano outro.
